Life Line Fittings - Hand Crimp
Hand Crimp Life Line Fittings were first developed by JOHNSON in 1967 after extensive testing. These fittings were designed for easy installation by the boat owner or professional. Acceptance caught on quickly in the marine trade and became widely used by OEM's and boat owners alike. The 1969 LANDS' END hardware catalog even featured our fittings. Today our fittings are still widely used in the marine and now the architectural trade. A properly installed hand crimp fitting will hold *65-70% of the breaking strength of 7x7 cable. The proper crimping tool and instructions must be used to assure a safe installation. Johnson sells two tools that can be used to crimp Johnson fittings (see page 21). Be sure to specify JOHNSON as these fittings have been copied around the world. * See note on page 22 regarding Hand Crimp terminal guidelines.
